As a partner to dental practices, ABELDent is, as always, at the forefront of harnessing the power of this exciting technology. We’ve been exploring the many ways that AI can be used not only to improve existing products and services, but to innovate with solutions beyond our traditional offerings.
Here are some examples of outcome areas we have identified in our AI Roadmap, along with concrete progress we have achieved for your immediate benefit.
We are beginning to deliver the following capabilities to our clients:
ABELDent Scribe – AI-generated clinical documentation
This AI-powered assistant monitors your interactions with your patients and suggests templated, summarized Clinical Notes for your review and approval. Built right into ABELDent, this tool saves time by converting your provider-patient conversations into structured, consistent documents.
- Clinical Note creation is faster, more thorough, and more precise
- Your patient information is secure with HIPAA and PIPEDA compliance

Diagnostic Support for Imaging
- Recognition of clinical conditions based on your radiographs and 3D images
- Treatment planning recommendations
- Automated periodontal charting directly from imaging analysis
- Transfer of data generated and reviewed into your ABELDent odontogram (coming soon)
- Provided through integration with third-party Diagnocat software
- Integration with additional third-party solutions offering similar capabilities will be provided during 2026
AI Receptionist
- Allows patients to schedule and rebook appointments outside regular hours
ABELDent plans to provide additional AI-enabled capabilities to our clients in the coming months, including:
Administrative Assistance
An ABELDent Copilot button for assistance in various areas, such as:
- Local software support for troubleshooting and walk-throughs
- Ability to query your ABELDent database to answer questions not currently available in standard reports
- Automation of rote tasks e.g., transfer of charges or payments applied to the wrong provider
Patient Communication
- Presentation of relevant message templates and automated options
- Suggestions for auto-completion of patient messages
- Timely notifications of new patient messages
Practice efficiency and effectiveness
- Task automation and monitoring for completion
- Identification of important patient information – like severe allergies or medical conditions – to minimize adverse consequences
- Real-time analysis and insights, e.g., while acquiring new patients
Enhanced AI functionalities using VoIP
- Automatic opening of patient screen based on incoming call
