Patient Communication / Productivity, Optimal Performance

The Reasons ABELDent is the All-in-One Dental Software Solution for Your Practice

ABELDent Dental Software is an all-in-one practice management system that provides dental practices with a comprehensive set of features to streamline their operations. ABELDent Cloud and Local Plus each provide a modern, user-friendly interface with simplified navigation and a variety of time-saving tools to help you efficiently manage your practice.

With ABELDent, you can handle all of your practice management needs in a single program, including scheduling patient appointments, charting conditions and treatments, creating treatment plans, billing patients, communicating via SMS and email, and more. The software’s intuitive interface and multiple navigation options make it easy to quickly access the information you need so you can spend more time focusing on providing top-quality care to your patients.

ABELDent also provides a choice between a local and cloud-based server. Depending on your practice’s needs, you can choose one or the other or both if you have multiple practices and require flexibility with your dental software. ABELDent Local Plus is our local server option that shares the features and user interface of ABELDent Cloud. The only difference between the two versions is that ABELDent Local Plus stores data on-site in your practice’s location, whereas ABELDent Cloud stores your data in Microsoft’s Azure Cloud, which provides an extra level of security. Aside from where your program data resides, ABELDent Cloud and Local Plus provide identical features and appearance.

In this blog post, we are going to cover the main features that will help you save time in ABELDent Cloud and Local Plus. To learn about some of the features you will find in our modern dental software, watch our video below or read the detailed descriptions below.

ABELDent Patient Communication

Both ABELDent Cloud and Local Plus include ABELDent Patient Communication (PCS), which is a built-in communication system designed to help both your administrative team and patients save time by optimizing SMS and email communication. These days, many patients expect their dental practices to communicate with them using their preferred method, which is often SMS. ABELDent includes text reminders, two-way texting and automated appointment confirmation and reminders, which encourages patients to reach out to your practice via simple communication methods.

New Patient Self Booking

ABELDent’s New Patient Self-Booking feature allows prospective patients to find your practice online and book an appointment directly with your practice, minimizing phone calls and making appointments with new patients more accessible. Patients look for practices that offer quick, easy access to online scheduling to save time and to keep better track of appointments with new providers. Additionally, online booking saves your administrative team time and allows them to focus on other priorities, such as collecting outstanding payments or filling holes in your schedule.

In addition to new patient self-scheduling, ABELDent provides current patients with the ability to self-schedule outstanding appointments, reminds patients of overdue appointments, and allows your team to fill last-minute openings by sending short notice opening messages to select patients.

Simplified Program Navigation

ABELDent has a lot of shortcuts and features that are conveniently available from multiple areas of the program. This ensures your team never has to worry about clicking several times to navigate where you need to be in the software. ABELDent’s Global Navigation Bar (GNB) helps streamline your team’s most common workflows by keeping major functions a single click from most areas of the software, including the patient record, chart, financial ledger, contact information, scheduler, patient manager and receivables manager.

ABELDent’s Patient Sidebar is another feature that helps you find information for a particular patient more efficiently. The Patient Sidebar is visible while you are on most screens of the software and contains a summary of patient information and a summary of clinically relevant information. The Personal Sidebar displays demographic, appointment and financial information for the selected patient, organized into expandable sections to prevent the sidebar from appearing cluttered. The Clinical Sidebar shows the selected patient’s recorded medications, allergies, and signed forms (such as health history or consent forms). Like the Personal sidebar, the Clinical Sidebar is organized into expandable dropdown sections to prevent clutter. The Patient Sidebar helps you find information quickly at a glance to better serve your patients.

In-depth charting, Treatment Planning, and Clinical Notes

ABELDent provides multiple ways for your team to enter existing conditions, record treatment provided, and create treatment plans. ABELDent’s intuitive charting features allow you to click to add existing conditions and treatment directly onto the patient odontogram, and allows you to simply drag planned treatment to indicate that it is complete. ABELDent also allows you to add completed and planned treatment by entering procedure codes for teams who prefer that over clicking or dragging.

ABELDent’s clinical features include the ability to record the results of a periodontal exam. Designed to capture periodontal results quickly and efficiently, the periodontal exam feature also supports voice-controlled capture of pocket depth. Recession and other relevant information.

ABELDent’s clinical features also allow you to create detailed clinical notes quickly. By using customized templates organized by each provider, your dentists, hygienists, and assistants can create comprehensive notes in just a few clicks. ABELDent also allows free-text typing of notes when needed.

Patient Record and Patient Dashboard

The Patient Record is arranged into tabs that each provide a specific type of information such as demographic, appointment, insurance, charting and periodontal charting information. The Patient Record toolbar allows you to access any type of information about a patient in a single click. The Patient Dashboard brings much of the patient’s information together in one place, further simplifying the effort to find the information you need.

In addition to detailed demographic and status information, the Patient Dashboard displays:

  • Appointments
  • Contacts (unscheduled treatment)
  • Financial Overview
  • Insurance Coverage
  • Family Members
  • Referrals (in and out of your practice)

You can click on any of these subsections to see more details, and you can access the patient records of the patient’s family members, provided they have a record set up with your office.

Insurance and Financial Tabs

ABELDent’s Insurance Tab displays all information pertaining to the selected patient’s insurance coverage, including annual and lifetime maximums, remaining coverage, coverage percentages by category, scaling limits and units remaining, and deductibles. If a patient has two insurances, you can see details for both, and the system allows up to eight coverages for a patient.

The Financial Tab also displays some insurance information, most notably the expected coverage, patient portion, and insurance paid for each procedure. By hovering over a pie chart icon associated with each treatment, you can see the insurance and patient portions that remain outstanding for the procedure. The Financial tab also allows you to make payments, financial adjustments, write-offs and other financial transactions, as well as financial notes. ABELDent also includes an online Receivables Manager feature that allows you to manage and collect your outstanding receivables, as well as account statements that can be emailed and an available online payment option.

Patient Notes and Documents

The Patient Notes tab is where general patient notes can be recorded, mainly for administrative purposes. You can attach a level of importance to each note so that your attention is drawn to the most important information, and you can set specific notes to open automatically each time you interact with a patient’s record, ensuring that you are aware of important information about the patient when needed. ABELDent also allows you to attach a note to an entire family so that you are made aware of the note each time you interact with the record for any family member.

ABELDent allows you to capture documents, whether they are paper-based or electronic, and store them in a patient’s record. The Documents Tab allows you to store documents created within ABELDent, paper-based documents scanned into your system, or electronic documents in many popular document types. Keep comprehensive records for your patients without having to keep a paper chart to store non-ABELDent documents.

Imaging Tab

ABELDent’s Imaging Tab allows for capturing radiographs directly from a variety of vendors, as well as images for devices such as intraoral cameras and digital cameras. The Imaging tab also allows you to bridge to many third-party imaging systems, so that images captured elsewhere are just a click or two away from your ABELDent patient record. Receivables Manager

ABELDent’s Receivables Manager helps you manage all of the outstanding balances from your patients, including those expected from their insurance providers.  The Receivables Manager allows you to filter by various categories, including aging category, provider, insurance carrier, patient name, or amount. You can use a variety of tools to help you collect outstanding balances, including phone calls, emails and SMS, and you can record payments, add notes, generate account statements and receipts, and send requests for electronic online payments.

Patient Manager

The Patient Manager allows you to plan for and manage progress over the course of your day. The Patient Manager organizes patients by appointment status, including confirmation status, and indicates which patients have arrived in the practice and how long they have been waiting. For each patient, the Patient Manager displays important alerts and notes like medical concerns, medication, special needs and any history of lateness or missed appointments. The Patient Manager is an excellent tool for your morning huddle or for each provider to manage their progress over a day.

Regular Automatic Updates

ABELDent Cloud and Local Plus have a built-in mechanism to automatically provide regular software updates. This ensures that your software is always up-to-date and protected against new threats. Automatic updates ensure that your practice does not fall behind on necessary updates and new features that can help you get the most out of your investment in ABELDent. Additionally, with automatic updates, your practice can have access to new features, benefits and protections without the need for third-party assistance to load updates.
